Here in The Lounge: We Create New Identities

Aug 16, 2026

We are starting a new series here, and I want to share something with you that might change how you see literally everything.

Most of us were taught that change works like this: “If I try hard enough, I can force myself to eat better, exercise more, go to sleep earlier.”

And when we can't stick with it for more than 2 weeks? We assume we need more willpower.

But here’s the truth I’ve learned after coaching many women just like you:
Willpower isn’t the answer. Your identity is.

The “Should” Trap
Let me guess how your brain talks to you:
“I should eat better.”
“I should work out.”
“I should go to bed earlier.”

That word should is heavy. It’s a guilt word. It’s the voice of someone trying to be someone they’re not… yet.

And that’s why it doesn’t stick.

When you should yourself into a habit, you’re fighting against yourself. Deep down, you still feel like “the person who struggles with food” or “the person who hates exercise.” So, no matter how hard you push, your brain keeps pulling you back to who you believe you are.

Here in The Lounge, we do things differently.
We don’t just change habits. We create new identities.
Instead of “I should eat better” → "I am someone who fuels my body."
Instead of “I should work out” → "I am someone who moves my body in ways that feel good."
Instead of “I should sleep earlier” → "I am someone who protects my rest."

It sounds simple. But when you shift your identity, your actions naturally follow. You stop forcing and start becoming.

What’s Next
Over the next several weeks, I’m going to walk you through some of the identities we build here in The Lounge.

We’ll talk about what it means to be someone who:
Packs her lunch for satiety and afternoon energy
Custom orders at restaurants without apologizing
Prioritizes sleep like it’s sacred
Moves in micro-doses
Fuels instead of diets

These identities build upon each other. Each one makes the next easier.

But the foundation is yours: You get to choose who you’re becoming. Not your past. Not other people’s expectations. You.

Then you prove it to yourself, one choice at a time.

Your One Question for This Week:
If you could pick one identity to start being this week, what would it be?
Someone who packs her lunch? Someone who’s asleep by 10? Someone who moves her body every day, even just for five minutes?

Pick just one. And let’s do this.

I believe in you,
Joanna
