3 Easy Ways to Start Reducing EMF Exposure Today

Let’s face it—technology isn’t going anywhere. But while we love the convenience of our phones, laptops, and Wi-Fi, there’s growing concern about the long-term impact of EMFs (electromagnetic fields) on our health.

If you read last week’s post, you know EMFs are all around us—from cell towers to the devices in our homes. So today, let’s talk about three simple, practical steps you can start using today to reduce your exposure—without tossing your phone in the trash. 😉

1. Keep Devices Off Your Body Whenever Possible
Carrying your phone in your pocket or tucked into your sports bra? Most of us do it without thinking. But EMFs are strongest the closer a device is to your body. Keeping it a few inches away makes a difference—for example:  leave it on the table instead of your lap, keep it in your bag instead of your waistband.

Try this: Use speakerphone or wired headphones for calls and avoid holding your phone against your ear for long periods of time.

2. Turn Off Wi-Fi at Night
Wi-Fi routers emit EMFs 24/7—but nighttime is a perfect opportunity to cut back. You’re not using it while you sleep, and your body is doing its deepest repair work. Give it a break from that invisible noise.

Bonus: You might even find that you sleep better. EMFs can affect melatonin production and circadian rhythm in some people.

Try this: Plug your Wi-Fi router into a timer so it shuts off at bedtime and turns back on in the morning automatically.  Another option is to simply unplug your router when you go to bed and plug it back in when you wake up for the day.

3. Move Your Router (and Don’t Sit Next to It)
Out of sight doesn’t mean out of range. Many people set their router right next to their desk, bed, or favorite chair—without realizing they’re sitting next to a high-powered EMF source for hours at a time.

Try this: Relocate your router to a spot that’s more central but not right next to where you spend long periods of time. Even just a few feet of distance can help.
